Take a closer look at how construction of the East County Advanced Water Purification Program is impacting you with this brief overview of current road closures as well dust and noise impacts.
Santee
The intersection of Mast Boulevard and Los Ranchitos Road is temporarily closed due to purified pipeline construction. Those in the area can take a detour. Expect noise and equipment activity due to rock breaking, drilling, trenching, and material excavation. The pipeline trench digging began at Jeremy Street and will continue east to the San Diego County line. Generator noise may also be present. Trails remain open at the east end of Mast. Please use caution around the work zone. Crews will be on site Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Lakeside
Pipeline is being installed on Lake Jennings Park Road westward toward Rancho Capitan and then Pino Drive. This will result in lane closures and detours. In mid to late November, a temporary detour around Rancho Capitan is anticipated. In December, a temporary detour is expected to occur at Pino Drive. Traffic control will be implemented as needed. Driveway access will remain open. Expect noise from drilling, trucks, and other construction activities. Crews will be on site Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Stowe Trailhead
The Stowe Trailhead was temporarily relocated to the cul-de-sac on the north end of Strathmore near Birchcrest Boulevard this past summer due to pipeline construction on Ganley. Signs are posted at the temporary trailhead reminding visitors to park on Ganley Road instead of parking at the Strathmore Drive cul-de-sac. Trailhead access at the Fanita Parkway and Ganley intersection will be restored once pipeline construction is complete.
Noise
Additional concrete trucks are scheduled to arrive for early morning concrete pours at the main project construction site north of Santee Lakes. The truck deliveries begin before 4 am. There are a few large concrete pours remaining. The early hour work is necessary especially during warmer months so the heat doesn’t evaporate and leave stress cracks in the concrete. The work is also scheduled to allow trucks to avoid traffic.
Dust
Our crews are ramping up dust control efforts on Fanita Parkway and north of Ganley Road as dry conditions continue.
