Trucks are delivering soil to the East County Advanced Water Facility site to fill the grade where the foundation of the treatment facilities will be located. Trucks travel to the site with moistened soil that minimizes dust during travel to the site. The dirt is damp and clumps together like beach sand to further reduce dust from forming during the release from the trucks. Water trucks are stationed at the site to provide extra dust mitigation when needed. Using moistened dirt makes it unnecessary for trucks to cover the beds and is approved as part of the hauling permit with the City of Santee. Truck hauling hours start at 8:30 a.m. to avoid early morning business and school commutes and ends at 4:30 p.m. Hauling is expected to last a few months.
