One of the key goals of the East County Advanced Water Purification Program is to produce a local water supply at a cost comparable to imported water. One of the many benefits this project offers is more local control over costs. To date this project has secured $123 million in grants and incentives and $796 million in low interest loans. This funding reduces impacts to ratepayers and makes the Program cost effective. Results from a third party financial analysis shows the Advanced Water Purification Program will improve long-term water and wastewater costs.
